Minnie Bogenschneider
MAYVILLE
- Minnie Bogenschneider, 104 years, 3 months, 13 days, formerly of
Mayville, died on Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.
The funeral will be held on Monday, April 30, at 1 p.m.,
at St. John's Lutheran Ahurch, Mayville. The Rev. Edward Blonski will
officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Mayville.
Minnie (Siegmann) Bogenschneider, was born on Jan. 13,
1897, the daughter of August and Marguerite Siegmann, in
Schleiseingerville (Slinger). She was married on Nov. 27, 1919, to Otto
Bogenschneider in Slinger.
Minnie and Otto farmed for 34 years in the Theresa area,
she spent many years working at canning factories, in Theresa and
Mayville, later moving to Mayville in 1953. She was well known for her
cooking and baking skills, Angel food cake, Schaum and Blitz tortes were
her specialties. She was an avid piano and organ player. At the age of 93,
Minnie won a contest for being able to touch her nose with her toes. Her
great-grandchildren told her she would live till the year 2000 just so
they would have to change her head stone to read 1897-20 instead of
1897-19. She was a member of the Immanual Lutheran Church, Theresa.
Survivors include one son, Harland, Beaver Dam; one
daughter, Esther (Arthur) Hartwig, Fox Lake and Lady Lake, Fla.; four
grandchildren, Paul (Linda) Bogenschneider, Hendersonville, Tenn., Larry
Bogenschneider, Waupun, Nancy (Thomas) Schweiger, Fond du Lac, and Russell
A. (Beth) Hartwig, Fox Lake; one granddaughter-in-law, Mary (Hartwig)
Salgado (James deceased), Conway, N.H.; nine great-grandchildren, Cherl
(Robert) Anderl, Hermitage, Tenn., Daniel Bogenschneider, Henderson,
Tenn., Kimberly, Adam and Marc Schweiger, Fond du Lac, Jonathan (Angela)
Hartwig, Charlotte, N.C., Jennifer Hartwig, Charlotte, N.C., Penny (Dale)
Wiser, Fox Lake, and Melissa (Michael) Neu, Beaver Dam; two
great-great-grandsons, Alexander and Ryan Neu, Beaver Dam; nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto
in 1966; one daughter-in-law, Marion Bogenschneider in 1996; two
grandchildren, David Bogenschneider in 1970, and James Hartwig in 1988;
two brothers, John and Leonard Seigman; three sisters, Mary in infancy,
Wallburga (Wally) Bauer, and Carrie Du' Thorn; all of her brothers and
sisters, accept Mary, were all in their 90s when they passed away.
Friends may call on Monday, April 30, from 11 a.m. until
the time of service at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mayville.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
