Wisconsin Census Information
Not all counties for all years. 1836
(included area that became Iowa Territory), 1838, 1842, 1846, 1847, 1855, 1865
(only Dunn, Green, Jackson, Kewaunee, Ozaukee, Sheboygan counties), 1875,
1885, 1895, 1905 (names family members); 1885, 1895, and 1905 available on
microfilm at Family History Centers. Some town enumerations are at county
register of deeds or in circuit court files.
Check with the Wisconsin Historical
Society for interlibrary loan. All federal schedules, for all states, are at
the Wisconsin Historical Society. The society also has original state copy
manuscripts of the 1850, 1860, and 1870 federal census for Wisconsin. Every-name
indexes to the state copies of the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses, on microfilm
are available through interlibrary laon from that repository. Mortality
schedules are indexed and available through interlibrary loan, except for the
1880, which is not indexed. The 1820 to 1870 censuses for Wisconsin were also
indexed by the Works Project Administration (WPA), listing each individual
within the state in a given census year.

twice. The second filming was listed first and is usually easier to read.
However, since some of the records were faded or lost between the first and
second filming, search the first filming whenever the material on the second
filming is tool light or missing. FHL film copies on 49 folls, beginning with
